Children Looking for a Sponsor
Jane Namutebi
Jane Namutebi is 9 years old and is in Primary Grade 2 at Kids Care School. Her favorite color is green and English is her favorite subject. She loves dancing and wants to become a doctor after studies. Together with her big sister Oliver, they joined Timothy Home in February 2024. Jane and Oliver could hardly access school because of their sickly parents. They would miss classes because they had to work to earn money so they could feed their parents. Getting lunch and supper each day at their house was a miracle! They could hardly get enough money to care for their parents and pay school bills. This hindered their performance in school since they often missed lessons and had to walk 8kms per day to and from school. A community social worker contacted Timothy Home to help these young girls so they could have access to a better life. The community has been able to help their sickly parents by utilizing Village Health Teams. Timothy Home has opened doors to them even though they are not orphans.

Sarah Blessing Nassaka
Sarah Blessing Nassaka is 7 years old and is in the Nursery section at Shalom Day Care and Nursery School. She loves the color red. English is her favorite subject, and she enjoys rice and athletics. She wants to become a teacher after studies. Sarah’s world of disadvantage struck her after her mother dropped her off at her grandmother's doorstep at barely 6 months of age and then disappeared. Sarah is a child from a trans-generational affair that is suspected to have been a defilement case or even rape given the fact that her suspected dad is much older than the girl's mother (who we believe would have been about 14 years old when she gave birth to Sarah). Fearing arrest, the man denied fatherhood of the child. Fortunately, the grandmother (who is about 81 years old) was able to care for Sarah. However, due to her age and physical limitations, the grandmother can only sluggishly work her little garden for a living - and she is also trying to take care of a couple other grandchildren. Every meal in this family comes by God’s grace and a meal a day is a reality that they live with. Clothing and education for the kids under her care turned out to be mere option than a right because she can’t afford them. Missing school on many days has withered their hope of securing a better future. Sarah is so lucky and blessed that Timothy home is now responsible for her care and education. We thank God for this opportunity.
Gladys Nantale
Gladys Nantale is 10 years old and is in Primary Grade 3 at Kids Care School. Her favorite color is red and English is her favorite subject. She loves eating rice and playing netball. She wants to become a teacher when she grows up. Both of Gladys’ parents are living, but are desperately struggling to raise a family of four children (with Gladys being the 3rd born). Gloria, her elder sister, was sent to live with another family where she offers her labour for tuition. Gloria wakes up very early in the morning before school and stays up late after school doing home chores to pay for her education. It’s unfortunate that Gloria lives in a form of child-labour. George, the eldest brother, often misses school as he has to support his family by working in the eucalyptus forests around. George and his dad worked together to put up a 2-room 20x15 ft mud and wattle house the family lives in. Picking up Gladys for a sponsorship opportunity at Timothy Home was an answer to prayer for this family and we are grateful for the opportunity to provide care and an education for Gladys.
Priscilla Nabwire
Priscilla Nabwire is 9 years old and is in Primary Grade 1 at Kids Care School. Her favorite color is red and her favorite subject is Math. She loves dancing and she wants to become an engineer after her studies. She is an orphan whose parents were immigrants from Kenya. They lived in Masaka during Priscilla’s infancy. The father passed away and he was buried in a public cemetery. After Priscilla's birth, her mother got seriously sick and went back to Kenya where she passed away. Priscilla stayed with a friend of her parents for nine years. However, they have not been able to adequately provide for Priscilla despite having the will and the passion to parent her. They approached the government probation officer who referred her to Timothy Home for her to have a brighter future.
Samuel Kigozi
Samuel Kigozi is 10 years old and is in Primary Grade 3 at Kids Care School. He loves the color red and English is his favorite subject. He enjoys bananas and playing football. Samuel wants to become a lawyer after his studies. Both of Samuel’s parents are alive and work as community evangelists in the village. As young, neglected, and primary school dropouts, Samuel's parents lived on the islands of Kalangala in lake Victoria. Samuel's father, Isaac, resorted to cleaning fishnets before becoming a fisherman at a very young age - a job detested by society. In Uganda, the prevalence of HIV/AIDS is statistically more concentrated in fishing villages than any other segment of society, which makes people living in those areas more at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS. While living there, Samuel's parents informally married and subsequently accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord. Coming to Christ tremendously changed their lives and led them to a new lifestyle to which they attribute their escape from contracting HIV/AIDS.

Having lost her dad, her family chased her away together with her sickly mum claiming that she was not belonging to the Dad. This was intended to sell off the land and the house the dad had left. Her favorite food is rice and chicken. Madrine's father used to look after cattle before he got his backbone broken. He is too old to have a young child like Madrine. Madrine comes from a family of 12 children, all of school going age. However, two older girls are working as maids in people's homes. Madrine too had been taken to work as a maid. At home, Madrine's family lived in a semi-permanent house in the bush. None of the siblings went to school because of lack of school fees and it is a very long distance from home to school, so she had dropped out.
